Experience and Skills

Communication Skills. An excellent communicator who is able to clearly relate highly technical information to others in a form that they are more readily able to understand. Assets include clear writing and superb listening abilities; ability to interact with poise and confidence with co-workers and clients. These abilities allowed for excelling at Macintosh support duties at Verizon Information Services and Adams & Reese, in assisting users with new systems at Richardson ISD, as well as the operation of a Macintosh consulting business.

Communication abilities also used on editorial, writing, and publicity duties for monthly Macintosh-oriented e-zine and web site.

Organizational Skills. Effective time management allows for the performance of multiple duties, even during periods of stress and adversity. Attention to detail and innovation contributed toward the running of a Macintosh consulting business, lead to the time- and money-saving design of databases for the Marketing & Sales department of the Pontchartrain Center, and played a major role in Macintosh configuration and troubleshooting duties at Verizon Information Services.

Computer Skills. Well versed in the Macintosh operating system, from System 6 through OS X, as well as a variety of applications, including Claris/AppleWorks, Microsoft Office for Macintosh, and WordPerfect. Familiar with the basic operation of Photoshop, Illustrator, and FileMaker Pro. Technical skills directly related to a variety of Macintosh computers, Apple and Hewlett-Packard printers.

Familiar with basic HTML. Able to hand-code HTML documents, as well as using WYSIWYG HTML editors. Familiar with BBEdit and Macromedia Dreamweaver. Contributed to web design portion of Macintosh consulting business by hand-coding HTML text and checking HTML syntax.

Familiar with the Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office applications suite. Well versed in general PC technical skills, such as performing basic hardware upgrades and repairs, including building systems from parts. Familiar with basic network operations, such as TCP/IP, DHCP, and FTP. Familiar with web site creation and organization.

Verizon Information Services, Dallas, TX. Macintosh Systems Engineer, Desktop Support group, supporting 600+ Macintosh graphics users in sales and production offices across the country; responsible for configuring and testing new Macintosh hardware and software, including new operating systems and application versions; assist Networking group in ensuring networking interoperability of the Macintosh platform on the corporate network. August 1999 to Present.

DataStar Systems, Carrollton, TX. Contracted to Richardson Independent School District as computer technician with focus on Mac OS systems. Primary responsibility was the refurbishing of older Macintosh computers, pulled from administrative areas, for use in classrooms, including use on the district network for Internet and intranet access. October 1998 to July 1999.

Mac Cafe Consulting, LLC, Metairie, LA. Owner/Consultant. Assisted a wide variety of clientele, from individual users to corporate clients, with a range of issues from general hardware troubleshooting to workflow solutions. January - December 1998.
